Congratulations to our SuffOC members - Barney, Matthew, Tim & Chloe - selected to be part of the team representing East Anglia at the Junior Inter Regional Championships on the North Downs in September.
Congratulations to the 21 members who competed at the Scottish 6 Day event - Deeside 2017 - earlier this month. There's a table summarising our club results here and various photos have been collected & uploaded in a Facebook album.
Holywells Park is holding an afternoon of activities for families on Wednesday 16th August & our club will be supervising the orienteering section. It will be an excellent way to try orienteering - you can start whenever you like during the afternoon & you'll be given a printed map & some instructions. The challenge could to plan a route to find checkpoints in a particular order, or you could decide to do do a "find-as-many-controls-as-you-can" in a given time. Further details can be found here.
The EAOA AGM was held after SuffOC's summer event at Ipswich High School, Woolverstone on Sunday and our congratulations go to Andrew Elliott who was presented with the Bill Stevens Trophy. This trophy is awarded annually to someone who has contributed greatly to orienteering in East Anglia, often by working in the background, & Andrew has been the EAOA treasurer for some time, in addition to carrying out the same role for our club.
The final event in the Essex & Suffolk Schools 'O' League took place at Wivenhoe last weekend and there were several SuffOC Juniors on the podium. Although not everyone was present on Sunday, individual age-category awards for their perfomances across the series of events went to: Barney (First place), Bronwen (Second place), Theo, Ben, Tim and Jack (Third place). In addition, Alice and Lottie were placed First and Third respectively from the Barnardiston Hall entries. Congratulations, everyone!
