We welcome you to a new post-parkrun series of navigational challenges, starting at Christchurch Park. We invite all members to come and try out the Christchurch parkrun from 9am and then join us from 10:30am for a MapRun score event.

Meet Sarah Mansel either before or immediately after the Parkrun (she'll be in her SUFFOC orienteering top) or over by the bandstand in the Arboretum on the western side of the park at about 10:30am. 

The course will be an odds and even score. 

There is a 40 minute time limit with 30-point penalties per minute (or part minute over). 

The number of points for each control is show in the first column of the control descriptions. 

You can start with either the odd numbered or the even numbered controls but once you switch to the other set you will no longer score points for any controls in the first set.  Controls do not have to be visited in any specific order. You don’t have to visit all the controls in one set before switching to the other set, but you can only switch once.

Your first set of controls is determined by whether two odds or two evens are punched before two of the other (or stated another way, of the first three controls visited, if two are odd, you would be starting with  odds, and if two were even you would be starting with evens).  For example, if you visited #12, #15, #13, you would be scoring for the odd numbered controls first. 

The switch to the other set is signalled by visiting two controls of the second block in succession (ie two odds after an initial block of evens or vice versa).

Controls of the wrong type a block (ie odds visited in an even block and vice versa) do not count towards the points score but can be visited in the correct block for points.  These will appear as ‘extras’ in the list of results.

You can either print two separate maps for each block (on either side of one sheet of paper) or print them all on one map.
